The GALP Costa Brava (Local Fishing Action Group), the Terres Gironines Cooperativa Ateneu and Inspira Gastronomia, are promoting the third edition of the Women and Seafood Cooking Conference, a project in which the Roses Economic Promotion Area has participated since the first edition and which aims to promote knowledge and the gastronomic heritage of women in the sea. This year, the initiative has the collaboration of the town councils of Roses, Llançà, l'Escala, Salt, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Roses, as well as their fishermen's guilds.

The Rosinca session will take place on June 5th in the Gastronomic Classroom, at 7 p.m., and will consist of the dynamization of a group formed by older women and newcomers where they will share knowledge and cook together . Once the cooking session is over, the Classroom will open to the public who wishes to do so, who will be able to taste what has been previously cooked and will also be able to learn about the solidarity recipe book project.

Both in Roses and in the other sessions that will be held (in Llançà on May 10, in Salt on May 29, in Sant Feliu de Guíxols on May 31 and in L'Escala on June 12), there will be the participation of women of the sea and biologists to exchange knowledge about the fishing culture of the territory and how to make it a sustainable consumption. All with the aim of recovering the memory of fish cuisine collectively, promoting sustainable cuisine with a view to social and solidarity economy, putting people at the center.

Solidarity route and recipe book

The meetings began in 2023 , when they took place only in Roses ; in 2024 they were extended to L'Escala and Palamós; in this third edition this session has been extended to five municipalities in the territory. The result of the collection of recipes that have been carried out in previous workshops has been the promotion of the recipe book ' Les dones i la cuina Marinera' , which has had the support of the Girona Provincial Council.

The recipe book is the result of the participation of more than a hundred women of different nationalities who have developed twelve recipes with fish as the main protagonist. The activities have been possible thanks to the symbiosis between the local administration, the Ateneu and the guilds of the GALP municipalities, with the coordination of the gastronomic activist Àgata Albero Miralbell of the consultancy Inspira Gastronomia, who also wrote it. The illustrations are the work of the artist and graphic designer Sònia Estévez.

The money raised from the sale of the book will go to the project to protect women and families in situations of trafficking promoted by the Red Cross , which offers help to women in situations of prostitution in the province of Girona. The book costs 15 euros.
