Recycling, reduction of waste and water consumption
At the Port of Roses, we are committed to protecting the environment and managing waste responsibly. That’s why we offer waste collection and treatment services.
Collection of Oils and Hydrocarbons
Motor oils and filters are collected at the "PUNT BLAU", together with other special waste. Before disposing of oils in the designated container, please notify the marina staff.
Selective Collection of Glass, Paper, and Cardboard
Containers for packaging, paper-cardboard, and glass are strategically placed throughout the port in ecological islands:
• Packaging (yellow container)
• Paper-Cardboard (blue container)
• Glass (green container)
For large amounts, please deposit them in the "PUNT BLAU" large-volume containers.
Garbage Collection
Unsorted waste should be disposed of in the appropriate containers located in ecological islands throughout the port. For large quantities, please use the large-volume containers at the "PUNT BLAU".
Wastewater Collection (Pumping Service)
Wastewater from boats’ grey and black water tanks is pumped out at the waiting dock at the port entrance and at the central pier, both on the starboard side. To use this service, please inform the marina staff.
Bilge Water Pumping
Oily bilge water is pumped using the system next to the fuel station, on the port side of the entrance. To operate it, please notify the marina staff.
These actions reflect our ongoing commitment to sustainability, supported by the renewal of our EMAS international certification.

Cavallet Blau: Boat Cleaning with Recycled Water
The Cavallet Blau is a pioneering facility at the Port of Roses, implemented in 2008, allowing boat cleaning using recycled water from the wastewater treatment plant (EDAR).
Located at the port entrance, the installation has a 10,000-litre polyester tank with a pressure system. The service is free and is an eco-friendly alternative to potable water, especially during drought periods.
In 2023, during a new drought, the Port of Roses reinforced this initiative in collaboration with the Costa Brava Consortium to ensure a reliable recycled water supply.
In 2024, a second 5,000-litre tank was installed near the GEN sports ramp, increasing access to recycled water for cleaning sports boats.
How to Use the Cavallet Blau Service?
Boaters should dock at the entrance (starboard side) where two hoses with flow regulators are available. Marina staff can assist upon request via VHF channel 9.
