The Real Club Nàutic Barcelona wins the Catalonia Optimist Team Championship in Roses

The Barcelona sailors emerged victorious in a highly contested final against Club Nàutic El Balís The Real Club Nàutic Barcelona was crowned Catalonia sailing champions in the Optimist category in Roses, after winning the best of three races against Club Nàutic El Balís in a closely fought final. CN Balís took the lead over RCN Barcelona by winning the first race. However, in the second race, just when it seemed the sailors from Sant Andreu de Llavaneres would seal the championship, the sailors from Club Nàutic Barcelona managed to bounce back to tie the final and also win the third and final race to be crowned Catalonia Optimist Team Champions. In the consolation final, Club Nàutic El Masnou defeated Club Nàutic Cambrils by winning the first two races. This Catalonia Optimist Team Championship featured the top 11 nautical clubs in the Catalan ranking (CN Cambrils, CN El Balís, CN Vilanova, Real CN Barcelona, CN El Masnou, CN L’Escala, CN Garraf, CN Palamós, CV Blanes, CN Vilassar de Mar, and GEN Roses). A competition where on Saturday, 55 races were scheduled for everyone to compete. However, due to lack of wind, only 25 races were held, with the remaining 30 races and finals taking place on Sunday. The awarding of medals and trophies to the champion, runner-up, and third place of the Catalonia Optimist Team Championship was carried out by the mayor of Roses, Josep Maria Martínez, the sports deputy of the Diputació de Girona, Jordi Masquef, the sports councilor himself, Miguel Muñoz, the president of Port Roses, Félix Llorens, and the president of the Nautical Sports Group and vice president of the Catalan Sailing Federation, Josep Maria Isern.
