The "PELICAN UN" starts the floating waste cleaning service on the coastline.
The service is carried out on all the beaches and urban coves of the municipality, i.e. Almadrava, Canyelles, Bonifaci, Palangrers, La Punta, La Nova, El Rastrell, Salatar and Santa Margarita, as well as on all the stretches of slope that run between them.
On Wednesday 15th June, the PELICAN UN began the floating waste cleaning service on the town's coastline during the summer season, in accordance with the management contract signed with Roses Town Council. The service is carried out on all the beaches and urban coves of the municipality, i.e. Almadrava, Canyelles, Bonifaci, Palangrers, La Punta, La Nova, El Rastrell, Salatar and Santa Margarita, as well as on all the stretches of slope that run between them.
The work is carried out between 15 June and 15 September with a suitably equipped Pelícano type boat and consists of monitoring and cleaning the floating solid waste detected in the water, separating it according to the type of waste and transporting it to land, where it is deposited in the corresponding recycling container for subsequent recovery. The service is also responsible for the extraction of hydrocarbons in the event of spills at sea.
The collection is carried out on beaches and coves outside the bathing area, and up to a distance of between 200 and 250 metres from the shore. However, in the event of detecting the presence of floating solids, the vessel may enter the bathing area at certain times, as long as there are no people in the vicinity of the area of action.
