Roses hosts the 22nd technical conference of Ports de Catalunya-ACPET with more than 200 industry professionals.

The 22nd Ports de Catalunya-ACPET Technical Conference brought together more than 200 attendees and over 30 speakers in Roses this week in a new edition of the leading event for Catalonia’s marinas and tourist ports.

Organised by Ports de Catalunya-ACPET, with the Port of Roses serving as host port, the conference turned Roses into a meeting point for the Catalan nautical and port sector during two days of debate, reflection and networking.

Throughout the conference, some of the sector’s main challenges and opportunities were addressed through keynote presentations and round tables such as “Vivaent, Tourism Today and Tomorrow”, focused on the evolution of the tourism model; the round table “How Ports Can Contribute to the Blue Economy”; the session “Development of the Port Plan. The Port Strategy for Sustainable Mobility in the Catalan Port System”; and the round table on “Coastal Management”.

The programme featured the participation of leading figures from the nautical, port and institutional sectors, including Manel Nadal, Secretary for Mobility and Infrastructure and President of Ports de la Generalitat; Josep Maria Martínez, Mayor of Roses; Maria Jesús López, Director General for Transport and Mobility of the Government of Catalonia; Esther Roca, Director General of Ports de la Generalitat; Raimon Roca, President of Ports de Catalunya-ACPET; Roger Mitjana, Managing Director of Ports de Catalunya-ACPET; Cristina Lagé, Director General of Tourism of Catalonia; Tomás Azcárate, President of Marinas de España; Jordi Carrasco, Director General of ANEN; and Serge Pallarès, President of Ports d’Occitània, among other representatives and professionals linked to the sector.

During the closing ceremony, the President of Ports de Catalunya-ACPET, Raimon Roca, highlighted that “these Technical Conferences are and must continue to be an essential meeting point for reflecting, debating and sharing everything related to the management and development of our ports”. Roca also pointed out that “the data presented in the technical report confirm that marinas and tourist ports are a key element of Catalonia’s blue economy” and underlined “the sector’s strong connection with the public sphere”.

The conference also included several networking spaces and commercial exhibition areas, where sponsoring companies were able to showcase innovative products, services and solutions related to port and nautical activities.

With this new edition, Ports de Catalunya-ACPET consolidates the Technical Conferences as a forum for debate, knowledge-sharing and collaboration among the leading stakeholders in the Catalan port sector.
