Renovation of the beach lifeguard service modules, which begins tomorrow, June 6

The lifeguard service on the beaches of Roses is incorporating new care modules this season. Specifically, six modules are being installed on the beaches of Santa Margarida, Rastrell, Nova, Punta, Canyelles and Almadrava, equipped with the necessary spaces and equipment to care for users and provide care.

The Environment and Beaches Department of the Roses City Council is finalizing preparations to launch the lifeguard service on the town's urban beaches. As in the last two years, the council continues to focus this season on expanding the service, with the aim of responding to new bathing habits and ensuring the safety of bathers and beach users.

In this way, the service will remain active from tomorrow, June 6, until September 27, which represents an additional month of surveillance compared to previous seasons.

In addition to the improvements that the council periodically incorporates into the provision of the service, this year also includes the renovation of the lifeguard modules, already installed on the six beaches, an action that has involved an investment of €475,000.

The councilor responsible for the area, Lluís Espada, highlights that "the new modules allow the service to be given visibility, making them more identifiable in cases of emergency and improving the conditions of attention for users and the lifeguard team. In addition to this better functionality, an aesthetic bonus is added that contributes to the good image of the beaches and the municipality." He adds "we continue to invest in the progressive improvement of the services by extending hours, furniture and equipment and making our beaches increasingly inclusive so that everyone can enjoy them. At the end of this June we will offer an official presentation of all these services to make them known as a whole."

The rescue and first aid service will be offered from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in June and September, while during July and August, it is extended from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It has a staff of 23 lifeguards, a boat skipper and a coordinator, 12 chairs/watchtowers and 6 attention modules, all distributed along the urban beaches of Roses. In addition, the Nova, Rastrell and Almadrava beaches have amphibious chairs for adapted bathing.
