From Monday, the circulation of bicycles, tricycles, roller skates and scooters on the Passeig Marítim will be prohibited from 12 noon to midnight.
Starting next Monday, April 14, and until September 30, riding a scooter, bicycle, tricycle, roller skates or similar on the Roses promenade will be prohibited between 12 noon and midnight, every day of the week. The measure responds to the desire to prioritize pedestrians and avoid inconvenience and accidents during the period and time of greatest concentrations of people in this space.
The Roses promenade attracts a large number of people during the summer months and throughout the day, both to access the beaches or adjacent commercial, hotel and restaurant establishments, and to stroll along the sea. This intensity of use has led the Citizen Security Area to decide to implement, starting next Monday, coinciding with the Easter holidays, a pilot test that will eliminate the circulation of these vehicles on the promenade during peak hours.
The objective is to avoid having to combine different types of users, walking speeds and sizes that travel simultaneously along the promenade, which causes numerous incidents and inconvenience to pedestrians during the tourist season.
Thus, between 12 noon and midnight, bicycles, tricycles, scooters, roller skates, or similar vehicles will not be allowed to circulate on the section of the promenade between Plaça de les Botxes and Bocana de Santa Margarida. The penalty for breaching this prohibition is €80.
As an alternative, these vehicles can be driven on the dirt road that runs parallel to the C-260 from the Joncar Mar Camping roundabout to the roundabout that connects with the La Garriga urbanization (Repsol gas station) and, once the regional road 260 is reopened to traffic upon completion of the works currently being carried out on it, they can also use the existing bike lane from Avinguda de Rhode (Ciutadella) to the La Garriga roundabout.
