24 ports and 101 beaches awarded with the Blue Flag 2026
On May 5th, the 2026 Blue Flag awards were officially announced, and the Port of Roses continues to receive this prestigious distinction.
This marks the 40th consecutive edition, with the award now present in 51 countries across all 5 continents.
Catalonia maintains its leading position within the 2026 Blue Flag programme with a total of 101 awarded beaches across 40 municipalities, consolidating its place as the fourth autonomous community in Spain with the highest number of distinctions.
In addition, Catalonia leads the national ranking for marinas with 24 Blue Flags, one more than in the previous edition, distributed across the provinces of Barcelona, Girona and Tarragona.
Environmental protection continues to be one of the strengths of the Catalan coastline. According to ADEAC data, Catalonia has 63 candidate beaches with Posidonia seagrass meadows located less than two kilometres from the coast, 86% of which are protected as Sites of Community Importance.
Catalonia also has 15 Blue Centres, spaces dedicated to environmental education and awareness linked to the conservation of coastal and marine environments.
As part of the Blue Flag framework, Port Roses, together with the guided tour company Terramar and Magic Catamarans, is organising two guided excursions along the coast of the Cap de Creus Natural Park.
These visits aim to share and promote the values of the park, raise awareness about the environment that surrounds us, and highlight the importance of protecting the natural environment.
The excursions will take place on May 17th and October 18th, from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and tickets are available on the Terramar website:
