News | 03/10/2026

This weekend Port de Roses, with the collaboration of the Club Badia de Roses, has carried out a new day of cleaning the seabed of the port, which resulted in the extraction of 280 kg of waste, mostly plastics, glass, tires and fishing gear. The cleaning is carried out annually and is part of the set of actions that the port carries out for the improvement and conservation of the natural environment.

The maritime area where the cleaning tasks have been carried out this year has been the mouth of the port, specifically the space between the contradít of the Port Esportiu and the Moll de Pescadors. Another area where action has been taken has been the stone area of the breakwater , where the garbage that the sea carries towards the coast accumulates.

Among the waste removed is a wide variety of materials, mainly plastics, glass, tires, ropes and fishing tackle . Larger or unusual objects have also been recovered, such as fences, chairs, a toilet and an awning . As in previous editions, numerous cans and glass bottles have also been removed .

An action to protect the marine environment and raise awareness

This action is part of the Port of Roses' commitment to protecting the marine environment and responsible environmental management , within the framework of annual actions to improve and conserve the natural environment. A commitment that over the years has achieved the endorsement of the Biosphere, Blue Flag, EMAS and CETS environmental certifications .

Beyond waste removal, the day also has an important environmental awareness component . The objective is to raise awareness among port users and citizens about the importance of keeping coastal areas free of waste and fostering a culture of respect and protection of the marine environment.

The Port of Roses thanks all the participants, the Club Badia and the collaborating companies that have made this new cleaning day possible. At the same time, it recalls that the care of the marine environment is a shared responsibility between administrations, professionals, users and visitors.
