La Ruta de la Tramuntana Returns to Roses After Seventeen Years

News | 03/06/2026

The third event of the Ausmar Regattas Circuit will once again connect the Maresme coast and the Costa Brava in a competition featuring a 60-nautical-mile coastal passage and a short inshore race in the Bay of Roses.

The 33rd edition of La Ruta de la Tramuntana will take place on June 5 and 6. With more than three decades of history, the regatta has become one of the most renowned events in Mediterranean cruiser racing thanks to a course that combines strategy, tactics and some of the most attractive sailing grounds on the Costa Brava.

Co-organized by Enregata, Club Nàutic El Balís and Club d'Esports Nàutics GEN Roses, under the authority of the Catalan Sailing Federation and with the collaboration of Port de Roses, La Ruta de la Tramuntana will once again be part of the Ausmar Regattas Circuit as the third scoring event of the 2026 season.

On Friday, June 5, at 1:00 p.m., the fleet will start off Club Nàutic El Balís and head towards Roses on a 60-nautical-mile passage. The historic Maresme club, which has co-organized the regatta since its inception and is widely recognized for its commitment to competitive sailing, will award the Club Nàutic El Balís Trophy to the overall line-honours winner of the offshore race.

The main novelty of this edition is the return of Roses as both the finishing port and the venue for the short coastal race. La Ruta de la Tramuntana previously used Roses as its host port between 2005 and 2008, a period that included four of its most memorable editions. The regatta now returns to a venue highly valued for the quality of its facilities and the outstanding sailing conditions offered by the Bay of Roses.

On Saturday, June 6, from 2:00 p.m., the second race will be contested over an approximately 12-nautical-mile coastal course in the waters of the Bay of Roses. The first boat to cross the finish line will claim line honours and receive the Roses Town Council Trophy.

The combined overall standings of both races will determine the outright winner of La Ruta de la Tramuntana 2026, who will be awarded the prestigious Costa Brava Girona Tourism Board Trophy, a distinction that reflects the regatta’s close connection with the nautical and tourism promotion of the Costa Brava.

This year’s edition will feature 20 boats. Among them is Rauxa, an X-35 skippered by Eduard Vega from CN El Balís, the defending overall champion of La Ruta de la Tramuntana. Also on the starting line will be Pekas X, a JOD 35 skippered by Pepe Navarro from CM Port Olímpic, winner of the 2025 Ausmar Regattas Circuit.

Another strong contender will be Diabolic, a Sun Fast 35 skippered by Glenn De Brouwer of the Royal Belgium Sailing Club, arriving in Roses after an excellent start to the season. The team secured overall victory in La Ruta de la Sal Rumbo Ibiza and an impressive third place overall in Bahía de Pollença, the first and second events respectively of the Ausmar Regattas Circuit, placing them among the leading candidates for the provisional championship lead.

In addition to the overall classification, the highest-ranked yacht captain in the general standings will receive the RAECY Trophy thanks to the collaboration that the organization has maintained with this institution for the third consecutive year.

La Ruta de la Tramuntana is also sponsored by the Costa Brava Girona Tourism Board and supported by Roses Town Council, Ports de la Generalitat and the Roses Fishermen’s Guild.

The regatta is part of the Ausmar Regattas Circuit thanks to the support of AUSMAR, a maritime security company that for more than two decades has maintained a strong commitment to offshore sailing and the main events organized by Enregata.

With its unique combination of overnight sailing, tactical racing and the incomparable appeal of the Costa Brava, La Ruta de la Tramuntana will once again bring together this weekend a distinguished fleet of Catalan cruising yachts in one of the most iconic events of the nautical calendar.
