José Moyano Izquierdo, distinguished with the 2025 Silver Drachma for his contribution to Roses
On August 15th, the Silver Drachma Award ceremony took place at the Roses Municipal Theatre, the highest distinction with which the council recognizes individuals, entities or groups from Roses who stand out for the value of their activities, for their contribution to society or for the projection of the municipality. This year, it was awarded to the Roses businessman José Moyano Izquierdo, founder of the Prestige Hotels Group.
The award recognizes his contribution to the tourist and social development of Roses, with a career marked by the creation of opportunities and commitment to the municipality.
José Moyano's life and business project has been closely linked to Roses for decades. From the beginning, with the opening of the first hotel establishments, to the consolidation of the Prestige Hotels Group, Moyano has become a key figure in the economic and social transformation of the municipality. His commitment to quality tourism, the generation of hundreds of jobs and the desire to offer close and humane treatment have made his career a benchmark in the sector and a driving force for progress for the town.
The businessman has been recognized not only for his contribution in the economic field, but also for his social sensitivity and the way he has known how to weave bonds with the community, treating workers, collaborators and customers as part of his large family.
During the event, the mayor of Roses, Josep Martínez, explained why Moyano was deserving of the Silver Drachma this year: "There are people who work in silence, who do not claim prominence, but who leave a deep and indelible mark on the hearts of the people. And today Roses makes a gesture of justice and recognition towards one of these people, Mr. José Moyano Izquierdo. By presenting the Drachma, we want to say thank you. But not only with the institutional voice, but with the voice of many voices, of so many people, families, generations, who have found through you an opportunity, an open door, a dignified job and humane treatment."
