Cleaning the seabed at the second pier collects 1,000 kg of rubbish

News | 23/10/2024

Last Sunday, a new day of cleaning the seabed took place, this time organized by the Badia de Roses Club at the second pier on Palangrers beach, which ended with the removal of 1,000 kg of rubbish, including twenty tires and a container.

In previous inspections, it had been detected that the seabed of the second pier and Palangrers beach accumulated waste that required crane-type means for its extraction. Last Sunday, the Club Badia de Roses put a thread on the needle and organized a cleaning action, which has the collaboration of the Port of Roses, the City Council and the Fishermen's Guild.

The Port of Roses provided human resources (skippers, divers and support staff), while the Fishermen's Guild provided a boat with a crane to extract the bulkier materials. The tasks carried out made it possible to remove twenty tires and an old container, with a total of 1,000 kg of rubbish removed. Despite this significant delay, a large amount of waste was detected, especially glass bottles and cans, which it is hoped will be able to be extracted in the next cleanings.

At the same time, ground cleaning was also done on the rocks of the second pier.
